Sunday Morning Class

Our Adult Faith Formation on Sunday mornings is from 9:45-10:45 am and will be held in the Fellowship Hall.

This fall we will be focusing on key beliefs like why faith formation is important, why theological education is important, how to read the Bible, and a theology of inclusion for LGTBQIA+ persons. These classes will be led by our pastors and guest speakers. Our Coffee Talk (for parents of younger children) and Text Talk (Bible study based on morning sermon passage) Sunday morning offerings will begin again later this fall!

Koinonia Small Groups

FPCA will be starting Koinonia small groups this fall to support members in their faith life and to build Christian friendships.

Groups will meet for 90 minutes, twice a month, October-May. These groups will be participant based, with a trained facilitator. The curriculum will help participants explore different ways of experiencing the power of God, spiritual practices, the enneagram, and ways to engage scripture. For more information, please contact Pastor Shannon Jordan at sjordan@fpcasheville.org.

Presbyterian Women

For the 2022-2023 calendar year, the PW will be studying “Celebrating Sabbath: Accepting God’s Gift of Rest and Delight.”

There are three active circles currently at FPCA. The daytime one meets at the church in room 112 on the first Monday of the month at 10:30 am. The evening one meets on the third Wednesday of the month in the Widman Room (107) at 7 pm. Finally, there is one that meets at Deerfield. For more information, contact Pastor Shannon at sjordan@fpcasheville.org.

Women Studies

Women’s Studies events cover a wide range of topics from history, to theology, to culture.

This year the topics include the complexity of racism for women in Asheville, best practices for getting our affairs in order, book studies, and more. These monthly events are open to all women and usually meet on the third Thursday of the month. Information on time and location will be in weekly emails or bulletin.

Young Adult Ministry

The FPCA Young Adults group (formerly known as FLO – “Figuring Life Out”) is back… “Still FLO!”

This is a group of FPCA young adults and friends who gather monthly to hang out and have fun, build community, and grow in faith by having meaningful conversations about God, Scripture, and following Christ as a young adult in today’s world.

Our general pattern is to alternate months between fun/recreational activities and deeper/more purposeful gatherings for conversation (about a film, book, passage, or topic).

We are geared toward adults without children, in their 20s and 30s… but we are not exclusive! If you have children, or are outside that age range, and think this group may be for you. It is!
