After helping our Afghan neighbors get a foothold in the community and the US, the church has transitioned to a new phase of supporting immigrants in the critical task of helping them gain language skills.
Literacy Together offers excellent training and curriculum to support this effort, with a long list of those needing to be matched with a tutor. After a lot of thought and research, FPCA decided to join forces with Literacy Together in this mission. Fifteen active tutors from FPCA are currently working with Afghan, Ukranian, and Hispanic newcomers. If this sounds like something you would enjoy doing, please contact Bo Branden or Elaine Bagley, or you may visit the Literacy Together website.
It’s a great way to make a difference in the life of an immigrant. Literacy Together gives tutor training every month, so it’s easy to get involved at any time. They currently have a waiting list of about 100 people. So
please prayerfully respond to this opportunity to share God’s love.
