This is the 32nd year where, together with other faith communities, FPCA is building a house for a deserving family — the Brochkai family from Ukraine. Upon moving to the area, Serhii immediately began working to provide for his family. Olha cares for their children, the youngest being 4 months old. They have made Asheville their home, and the family’s integrity and helpful spirit make them a beloved part of their current neighborhood.

Faith Build #5 is beginning in January; however, this year is a little different. The walls have been built off-site and will be installed in December. Faith volunteers will then work to finish the house, with most of the work being done inside, away from the elements. Once again, you can help in two ways:

1. Help build a house during January and February. No skills or tools required. There are jobs for all skill levels (16 years and older). We have reserved two Thursdays and two Saturdays to accommodate those wanting to work during the week or on weekends.

  • Thursdays: January 15th & 22nd
  • Saturdays: January 24th &  February 7th
  • If you would like to work any other day, there are slots available from Tuesday to Friday during January and February.

2. Contribute a monetary gift. You can send a check to the church office or contribute online. Last year, the Mission Committee gave a generous gift, but this year we need to rely on individual donations.

Please help us build community. Contact Bill Winkler at life@fpcasheville.org for more information or to sign up for building days.
