Dear Members and Friends,

It is our deepest pleasure to be on this journey with you through Making Room for Generosity. As fellow members of this church community, we are walking this stewardship season alongside you, listening, praying, and reflecting together.

Over the past two Sundays, members of our congregation have shared personal reflections on giving during worship. If you were unable to be in worship on either of those Sundays, we invite you to view the full service and giving stories on our website at fpcasheville.org.

Throughout this stewardship season, we are invited to reflect on our WHY. So often, it is easy to focus on the what, the how, or the timing. But the WHY speaks to our deepest values and convictions. It is what moves us to invest in our families, our children, and our church. We invite you to spend time prayerfully considering your own WHY and how it shapes the way you live and give.

As part of our stewardship season we are sharing two documents: the Giving Path and Percentage Giving Chart, both included in this mailing. We want to be clear about what these tools are and what they are not.

The Percentage Giving Chart highlights one important step along the Giving Path: becoming a percentage giver. Percentage giving allows us to approach generosity with intention, deciding in advance what portion of our income we feel led to give in support of God’s work through our church. Together, these tools are offered as resources to help you reflect on where you currently are on the Giving Path and where you may feel called to grow.

As members of this congregation, we recognize that each of us gives differently, in different seasons, and according to our own means and God’s leading. While we walk this stewardship journey together as a church family, each of us is invited to listen individually for God’s guidance.

As you reflect on the many ways God has blessed you and on the ways First Presbyterian Asheville has shaped and enriched your life and the lives of others through its ministries, we invite you to consider whether God may be calling you to take a next step along the Giving Path, one that feels faithful, meaningful, and joyful.

Our offering is one of the ways we respond to God’s grace with gratitude and trust. We are thankful to be part of this community with you and grateful to walk this stewardship season together, curious and hopeful about what God will do through all of us.

With gratitude and faith,
Megan Morlok & Keith Love
